Joyce Gillespie is running for Vancouver City Council with ABC Vancouver.

Joyce has called Vancouver’s West Side home since 1994. Joyce and her husband raised their three children in Dunbar, all of them through Vancouver’s public schools, with two now in university and the youngest in high school.

For the better part of two decades she ran the volunteer organizations that hold a neighbourhood together, serving as president of Dunbar Little League and vice-president of the Vancouver Thunderbirds Minor Hockey Association. Hundreds of West Side families know Joyce because she showed up, season after season.

Her community work extends well beyond youth sports. She has raised money for charitable causes as an event fundraiser, including an event with Archbishop Desmond Tutu. She also knows Vancouver’s housing reality firsthand, having rented her home in this city for more than thirty years.

Professionally, Joyce is an entrepreneur. A UBC graduate in political science, she co-founded a natural skin-care company in 2001, spent fourteen years as a project management consultant, and in 2020 co-founded a technology platform that helps Canadians find work quickly and get paid within 24 hours.

Joyce has launched products, managed budgets, and built teams, and she believes City Hall should run the way a good organization does: focused on the basics, accountable for results, and respectful of taxpayers. Joyce is running because the next generation of Vancouver families deserves safe streets, services that show up, and a city they can afford to stay in.
