I’m here to put our country and my electoral district constituents first. We must share the burdens equitably and ensure those most vulnerable are attended to. We need to build alliances and unified responses to today’s existential threats. In Kings-Hants, we can work together to help build up Canada's sovereignty and self-sufficiency. We can strengthen democracy and respect for human and hon-human rights. At the same time, we can prosper through clean technology, climate action, and collective work for a better world, where diversity and life thrive.
Creative solutions can support local, sustainable, and clean economies that are socially and ecologically appropriate. Affordable homes, public transit, clean energy, circular or green economies, universal health, dental, and pharmacare, long-term care, child care, strategic and innovative approaches to trade, and nature-based solutions are all components of a livable world and thriving communities.
While some of these may seem out of reach, they are core parts of the Green Party of Canada's fully-costed platform. They will be financed through other measures, such as fair taxation and reductions in subsidies to fossil fuel coroporations. See the plan and platform at green party.ca.

» Stockpile essential raw materials to ensure stable supply and prevent price spikes during shortages.
» Ensure reserves are managed on a cost-recovery basis."

"Apply export taxes on key Canadian resources that the U.S. relies on— such as oil, gas, uranium, aluminum, potash, and natural gas. Revenue from these taxes will be reinvested in Canadian-owned technology, broadband expansion, and independent journalism, reducing reliance on U.S. corporate giants while strengthening Canada’s digital sovereignty." — Change: Vote For It, retrieved 2025-04-25
"Introduce targeted taxes on U.S. oil and gas corporations operating in Canada to ensure they contribute fairly to our economy. Biography
Born in Windsor, Nova Scotia, I have enjoyed a rich career as a professional Landscape Architect in Ontario, followed by 25 years as a professor and, at times, Director of Dalhousie University’s School for Resource and Environmental Studies. Recently retired, I remain engaged as Professor Emerita in the Faculties of Science and Graduate Studies.
Throughout my career, I have been engaged in numerous professional, community, and volunteer organizations. For 15 years I chaired Nova Scotia’s Land Legacy Trust, which has provided game-changing matching funding support to land trusts to protect private lands of ecological significance. I have twice served on Recovery Planning Teams for species at risk in Nova Scotia. I have helped organize international conferences and provided guidance to Parks Canada and Environment and Climate Change Canada, most recently for Canada’s National Ecological Corridors Program.
My interests have always focused on the inter-relationships between humans and our environment. As humans we have a responsibility to think and act in ways that recognize that we are all related. The biological diversity that makes up ecological systems comprises our life support system. My work has explored and advocated for ways to live in coexistence and reciprocity, for the benefit of all, both people and nature.
I have always enjoyed outdoor activities, especially gardening, backcountry camping, canoeing, hiking, and sea kayaking. I have done a lot of long-distance running, swimming and biking, including the Boston Marathon, and competing for Team Canada in international triathlon and duathlon competitions, earning an award of excellence and a bronze medal for Canada in 2013.
Now retired, I live again in my hometown of Windsor, NS. Today, we all need to stand together in solidarity, as Canadians, to stand up for our country and our environment. Now, more than ever in our lifetime, we need to work together for a liveable future for our children and all of life on earth, in all its diversity.
I’m here to put our country and my electoral district constituents first. We must share the burdens equitably and ensure those most vulnerable are attended to. As we build alliances and unified responses to today’s existential threats, Elizabeth May’s message resonates with me.
“Democracy and respect for human rights, climate action and collective work for a better world must not be abandoned. Canada can emerge stronger, more resilient and more self-sufficient. We do this together.”
I look forward to being your voice for positive change.
Reason for running
We need real change. As Canadians, we must stand up for our country and our environment. Now, more than ever in our lifetime, we need to work together for a livable future. The Green party has expressed a vision to put our country first while sharing the costs equitably and ensuring that those most vulnerable are attended to.
Now that I am recently retired, it is my opportunity to give back to my community. I want to fight for a future where fairness, justice, and sustainability are at the heart of every decision.
I am keen to help implement the Green Party vision in Canada and Kings-Hants.
- Defending democracy, where every person’s vote matters, and elected representatives stand for the people and the planet
- Working together for sovereignty for Canada and our international allies
- Promoting nature-based solutions to climate, biodiversity, and humanitarian crises
- Protecting and conserving farmland, forests, wetlands, and wildlife habitat for future generations
- Reforming the Canadian tax system to make the system more fair
- Promoting affordable Housing
- Taking bold climate action and embracing clean and sustainable energy
- Standing together, while sharing the burden and supporting those most vulnerable; and
- Respecting and advancing Indigenous Rights and Reconciliation
As we prepare to build alliances and unified responses to today’s existential threats, Elizabeth May’s message resonates with me:
Democracy and respect for human rights, climate action and collective work for a better world must not be abandoned….
Canada can emerge stronger, more resilient and more self-sufficient.
We do this together.
