Government transparency and lobbying platforms

Here's what the 2025 Canadian election parties are promising.
We don't have any Liberal policies on Government transparency and lobbying.

Conservative

  • Require anyone advising the government directly or indirectly, who stands to gain financially from their advice, to register as a lobbyist
  • Ban politicians from making decisions that benefit themselves or their family disproportionately, and require Ethics Commissioner approval and full public disclosure of all personal interests
  • Increase fines for ethics violations to $10,000
  • Require anyone running for public office to disclose where they paid taxes for the last seven years
  • Require cabinet ministers to divest fully from tax havens and disclose assets to the Conflict of Interest Commissioner, with penalties for non-compliance

"Require cabinet ministers to divest fully from tax havens and disclose assets to the Conflict of Interest Commissioner, with penalties for non-compliance. No more so-called blind trusts that only blind the public." — Change, retrieved 2025-04-23

  • Require party leaders to disclose their assets within 30 days of becoming leader, and require Prime Ministers to divest their assets within 30 days of assuming office

Bloc

  • Réformer la Loi sur l’accès à l’information
  • Resserrer le registre des lobbyistes
  • Élargir les pouvoirs du commissaire à l’éthique et aux conflits d’intérêts
We don't have any NDP policies on Government transparency and lobbying.

Green

  • Ensure all government contracts are publicly tendered
  • Create a public portal for government science and decision-making evidence to enhance transparency and public trust
