Bruno Sousa is a long-time Oakville resident, entrepreneur, and community advocate running for the Green Party in Oakville East. His work spans tech, local activism, and youth mentorship—driven by a lifelong commitment to sustainability, equity, and empowerment.

Bruno Sousa is a Green Party candidate deeply rooted in Oakville East. Raised in Falgarwood, educated in Glen Abbey and Joshua Creek, and now living in College Park after starting his family in Palermo West, Bruno knows this community inside and out. His connection isn’t symbolic—it’s lived.

He brings 17+ years of leadership in tech, business, and nonprofit sectors. As an entrepreneur, he’s launched ventures focused on innovation, arts, and digital transformation. As a mentor and community leader, he supports youth through Scouts Canada and amplifies local voices through grassroots advocacy.

Bruno has been a consistent force in civic movements—rallying efforts like Stop the Sprawl Halton, Hands Off the Greenbelt, and local resistance to Highway 413. These efforts weren’t just symbolic; they impacted policy and helped protect the natural and social fabric of Oakville.

Bruno has stood for the Green Party three times—federally and provincially—offering a consistent voice for affordable housing, public health, climate action and community-led solutions. In 2024, he was elected Chair of the Green Party of Canada's Constitutional Renewal Commission, where he is modernizing the party's internal governance and working to strengthen democratic participation across Canada.

Bruno’s campaign stands for affordability, public health, and climate justice—but also digs deeper into the foundational shifts shaping our lives. He’s a fierce advocate for Canadian sovereignty in the age of rising AI, digital surveillance, and global economic volatility. He believes we must build resilient local economies, protect our data rights, and ensure our democratic institutions evolve to meet the realities of the 21st century.

His leadership style is honest, collaborative, and people-first. He’s not here to play politics—he’s here to help Oakville East lead by example.

From Earth Day rallies to bylaws reform, Bruno’s work is defined by integrity, accessibility, and impact. He’s not just campaigning for votes—he’s campaigning for a better way of doing politics: one that listens deeply, acts responsibly, and builds lasting relationships.

Oakville East deserves leadership that reflects its values—smart, compassionate, forward-thinking—and Bruno is proud to be that voice on your ballot.

Reason for running

submitted by the candidate or their team
I'm running to put people back at the centre of politics. That means affordability, housing, accessible public healthcare, climate action—and standing up for Canada's sovereignty in the age of AI, surveillance, and global disruption.

I’m running because Oakville East deserves leadership that sees the full picture—and acts with courage, empathy, and foresight.

At the heart of my campaign are the people-first issues we all feel every day:

  1. Affordability, so families don’t have to choose between rent, food, or a future.
  2. Housing, designed to be livable, connected, and sustainable—not profit-driven.
  3. Healthcare, that is truly public, accessible, and affordable for all—where mental health is treated with the same urgency as physical health.

But beyond these immediate pressures, I see something deeper unfolding—and I believe we need to face it head-on.

Canada’s sovereignty—digital, economic, and cultural—is at risk. The rise of artificial intelligence, unchecked data surveillance, and global instability pose new threats that our current politics is not equipped to handle. I’m running to challenge that inertia. We must:

  1. Protect our data and digital freedoms.
  2. Invest in local economies that can weather global shocks.
  3. Ensure AI works for people, not against them—with regulation, transparency, and ethical oversight.

Climate change isn’t the only crisis on the horizon. We’re in a moment where leadership must do more than react—it must anticipate, include, and empower.

The Green Party offers the only truly forward-looking platform in this country—and I’m proud to bring that vision to Oakville East. But this campaign is about more than a party. It’s about you—your rights, your well-being, and your future.

Together, we can build a Canada that works—not just for the next quarter, but for the next generation.
