Working directly with companies looking to establish or grow their operations gives Patrick firsthand experience with the challenges facing investment and economic development in Nanaimo. He regularly works through issues involving zoning, development approvals, servicing and infrastructure, business licensing, available land and commercial space, and the municipal processes that can determine whether an investment moves forward.

That experience has shaped Patrick’s belief that Nanaimo needs to focus on getting the fundamentals right: strong core services and infrastructure, efficient and predictable approvals, responsible government, public safety, and a competitive environment for businesses to invest and create jobs.

Patrick also serves as Immediate Past President of the Nanaimo Executives Association, is an active member of the Greater Nanaimo Chamber of Commerce, sits on the Regional District of Nanaimo Board of Variance and its Liquid Waste and Solid Waste Management Plan Monitoring Committees, and participates in local economic development initiatives.

Patrick believes Nanaimo has enormous potential and wants to bring the practical experience he sees every day working with businesses and investors to City Council.
