Kathleen is a retired educator with experience teaching in both public and private schools from kindergarten through to college programs.  Her main background is in English Language Arts and Social Studies; however, over more than twenty years as an educator, she has taught everything from French to algebra and physics.  Her last teaching stint was with the College of North Atlantic in Bonavista.

“My rural upbringing on a grain farm in Saskatchewan inspired me to become a strong community supporter.  We often completed tasks co-operatively and this basic training has ensured that I have continued to be a valuable member in all the communities in which I have had the opportunity to live.”

While performing unpaid babysitting and caregiver duties, Kathleen has aided community development through membership on recreation committees, 50+ Clubs, various church committees, sports teams, local Chamber of Commerce, several advocacy organizations and her administration of various community Facebook pages and groups.

“As a grandmother of ten, my main ambition in running for the NL NDP is to provide people in my district with a candidate committed to making life more affordable for families.  My determination if elected is to put all public policy through a child-centered lens.  What is good for our children is good for our society.”
