Post-secondary costs and loans platforms

Here's what the 2025 Newfoundland & Labrador election parties are promising.

Liberal

  • Introduce a one-time, income-tested moving allowance up to $500 to assist with moving costs and getting settled in new homes for rural students travelling to study at MUN and the College of the North Atlantic

"We know that moving to attend post-secondary education is in and of itself an expensive undertaking. To support students from rural areas who want to attend Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador and the College of the North Atlantic, a re-elected Liberal Government will introduce a one-time moving allowance of up to $500 per student to assist with moving costs and getting settled in their new homes. This will be available to income and residency tested students of Newfoundland and Labrador moving from a rural region of the Province to attend full-time post-secondary studies." — Our Plan for Newfoundland and Labrador, retrieved 2025-10-08

PC

  • Provide a tuition refund for graduates who work in the province
  • Start an immediate review of tuition and fees at Memorial University and the College of the North Atlantic, including provincial student loans and grant programmes
