Jasmine Paul grew up in rural NL as a part of a fishing family. As a young girl she was engaged in politics, facilitated through her family, teachers, and community. She moved, like most young people to the city, but it wasn’t long until she began reconnecting with her roots, first through her college program by learning about traditional crafts, and then in Univeristy pursuing a degree in Folklore, where she learned more about those who made those crafts, and everything else they contributed to our rich culture of songs, stories, and creating. 

In 2019 began fishing full time with her family, moving to Come By Chance in 2020 where she has settled with her partner. Along with fishing, Jasmine is also an educator and conservationist, volunteering with oganizations like Fishing for Success and Girls Who Fish. 

Jasmine believes in a strong and engaged democratic population, where young girls and everyone else feel welcome to participate in politics, have their opinions heard, and feel confident that they have access to information about their government, policies and programs that impact them. She hopes that her background and life experience are beneficial to a hopeful future, and is excited for the opportunity to be a MHA who helps reconnect everyone with our rich history of engaging in politics
