Reason for running

submitted by the candidate or their team
I’m running in Mount Scio because politics should work for people, not the powerful. As a mother, small business owner, first-generation immigrant, and anti-racism advocate, I’ll fight for leadership that reflects our diversity and puts families first.

I am running to represent Mount Scio because I believe politics should work for people, not just the powerful. As the first Black woman to run for the House of Assembly in Newfoundland and Labrador, I want leadership that reflects the diversity of our province and gives voice to those too often left out. My career as an anti-racism and diversity consultant has been about breaking down systemic barriers and building inclusive communities, and I am ready to bring that same commitment to government. As a mother, small business owner, and first-generation immigrant, I understand the realities families face, balancing work, childcare, and rising costs while trying to build a secure future.

I am running to:

  1. Fight for affordable housing so everyone has a safe place to call home.
  2. Expand access to childcare so parents can work, study, and thrive without added stress.
  3. Protect and strengthen public healthcare, ensuring timely care for every resident.
  4. Invest in public services that support families, workers, and communities.
  5. Stand up for workers’ rights and fair wages so people are paid what they deserve.
  6. Build a more inclusive province, where diversity is valued and represented in leadership.
