Biography
Tom Digby is a well-known figure in Vancouver, having garnered over 39,000 votes in the 2022 civic election and currently serving as an elected Park Board Commissioner. He is actively engaged in the preservation of Stanley Park, along with promoting pollinator corridors and maintaining the urban tree canopy throughout Vancouver.
Tom embodies the values of the Green Party. While dedicated to local green initiatives at the Park Board, he also maintains a global perspective as a US and Canadian intellectual property lawyer focused on start-ups and innovation. Having lived and worked abroad in Boston and Switzerland, Tom returned to Vancouver with his family in 2016. He has a master’s degree in molecular biology and has extensive experience working with scientists in the life sciences field.
A key focus of Tom’s campaign is Canada’s health care policy. As the former chair of the federal agency that brings industry, patients and payers together to prevent excessive drug pricing, he contributed to keeping Canadian drug prices at approximately 40% of those in the US. Tom advocates for the Green Party’s health care policy, aiming to ensure every Canadian has access to a family doctor.
Above all, Tom is running in this federal election to make sure that the Canadian economy is centred on a healthy environment. Voters in Vancouver Quadra, and across Canada, know that environmental sustainability is crucial for economic prosperity. This is not the time to abandon the fight against climate change. In fact, this is the time for Canadians to become world leaders in decarbonization technologies. Tom believes that the federal government must stop subsidizing oil and gas, and instead, establish clear incentives and enabling policies for businesses and financial institutions to lead Canada to a low-carbon future.
In the meantime, you can learn more about them on their website.
