Tony Powell was born and raised in Charlottetown, Labrador, where he learned early the values of hard work, perseverance, and family. One of nine children, Tony grew up fishing alongside his father on the Labrador coast before pursuing a career in aviation.

At just 20 years old, he became a commercial pilot, later working with Labrador Airways and flying mission planes from North West River. Driven by a lifelong dream, he went on to establish his own charter company, Labrador Travel Air. With more than 45 years of experience and over 27,000 hours of flight time, Tony is proud of his safe and accomplished career in the air.

Tony’s life has been defined by determination, resilience, and service to others. From guiding sports fishermen on Labrador’s rivers as a teenager, to completing lifesaving mercy flights in some of the harshest weather conditions on earth, he has always been committed to supporting his community. Even when faced with a stage-four cancer diagnosis, Tony met the challenge with courage and resolve—qualities that continue to guide him today.

As a husband and father, Tony values family above all else. His love of Labrador’s people and history has shaped his life and his outlook. As the Liberal candidate in Torngat Mountains, he is ready to bring his experience, determination, and deep connection to Labrador to the House of Assembly.
