Biography
Tammy Bentz offers a new voice for North Vancouver City Council even though she has been a passionate advocate for her community in many areas over the past 25 years. Raising her kid with gratitude here on these unceded traditional territories of the Coast Salish people, she has volunteered on little league teams, school committees, & climate justice groups. There are no other issues if our city is on fire and no one can live here.
Currently, as Faculty of BCIT's School of Business & Media, Tammy sees the importance of affordable, livable housing as well as accessible & efficient public transportation that helps to decrease our infamous "North Shore Traffic jams". Communication is her livelihood, working as a Script Supervisor in the film industry and creativity is her strong suit having an indepth background as a writer/director/producer in professional theatre since graduating from University.
Tammy is optimistic with practical perseverance & dogged tenacity. She supports local business and knows we must balance budgets while being accountable to taxpayers. Balance is key in Tammy's approach to all issues as well as her huge emphasis on listening. She wants to hear from neighbours first so she can truly be their voice on council. She wants to work together with the community so as to benefit each of us...so everyone can thrive.
As 2SLGBTQ+, Tammy also volunteers with the North Shore Pride alliance and supports collaboration. Discourse is key to any resolutinos and we can learn from what we disagree about as much as what we agree on. She's a big fan of beach walks, trail hikes, watching skateboarders/snowboarders/mountainbikers, libraries & reading, cats, and good food. She is honoured to be considered for this position so she can give back to the community that has given her so much.
Reason for running
We can protect the natural environment that defines our city while creating complete neighbourhoods where people of all ages can afford to live, work, and thrive. Tammy wants to listen to neighbours and bring their ideas forward to city council. She wants a community where we are all heard.
