Chris d'Entremont is a proud Acadian from Nova Scotia. He is running as the Conservative candidate for the newly distributed riding of Acadie-Annapolis in the 45th General Election.

Chris d'Entremont is a proud Acadian from Nova Scotia, originally from West Pubnico, and now resides in Belleville with his family. He is running as the Conservative candidate for the newly distributed riding of Acadie-Annapolis in the 45th General Election.

Chris was re-elected as the Member of Parliament for West Nova in September 2021. In November 2021, he was appointed Deputy Speaker of the House of Commons and Chair of Committees of the Whole, becoming the first Acadian and only the second Nova Scotian to hold these prestigious roles.

In September 2020, Chris was appointed by then-Leader of the Official Opposition, Erin O’Toole, as Shadow Minister for Intergovernmental Affairs and the Atlantic Canada Economic Promotion Agency.

Chris entered federal politics in October 2019, when he was elected as the Member of Parliament for West Nova, becoming the only Conservative representative from Nova Scotia at the time.

Before his transition to federal politics, Chris spent 17 years in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly, first elected as the MLA for Argyle-Barrington on August 5, 2003, under the Progressive Conservative banner. He successfully held his seat through four consecutive elections, serving until 2019.

During his time in provincial politics, Chris held several prominent cabinet positions, including:

  1. Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Aquaculture
  2. Minister of Acadian Affairs
  3. Minister of Health and Community Services

He also served as the Parliamentary Leader of the Official Opposition during his final six years in the provincial legislature.

Chris’s contributions to Nova Scotia were significant. As Minister of Health, he:

  1. Introduced Nova Scotia’s first Continuing Care Strategy to ensure high-quality care for seniors.
  2. Launched the largest long-term care home building program in the province’s history.
  3. Introduced Canada’s first family drug insurance program, offering catastrophic drug coverage to Nova Scotians.

Chris and his wife Anne have been married for 28 years, and they are the proud parents of two sons, Alec and André.
