To all the party partisans, you realize that in our present system - if you lose the election your opponent will be in charge of election rules…does that seem like a sane set up to you?
This is a great cause for electoral reform and I really hope to work towards ending this ridiculous conflict of interest because right now, we the voters are not served well when election rules are up to the elected.
We do long ballots because politicians should not be in charge of election rules; there is an obvious conflict of interest. After all, what Prime Minister would change a system which brought them to power?
Canadians are not served well when election rules are in the hands of politicians. Like they did with drawing electoral boundaries, politicians should recuse themselves and pass responsibility to a permanent, independent and non-partisan body.
