Biography

from their website

Rahima Mian’s journey in Canada began in 2016 when her family moved from Lahore, Pakistan to Regina. Adjusting to a new culture ignited a sense of ambition, with endless possibilities shaping her future. In 2019, she pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science at the University of Regina, driven by a passion for advocacy and community engagement.

Her first summer job as an Event Coordinator at Summer Bash, a local Regina non-profit hosting free outdoor movie nights, allowed her to connect with Regina’s diverse communities. A Latin-themed event she coordinated became a defining moment, reinforcing her belief in representation and unity.

Determined to make a greater impact, she joined the Liberal Party of Canada in 2023, spending the summer traveling across Saskatchewan—from Fond du Lac to Estevan—engaging with fellow Saskatchewanians on the issues that mattered most. These conversations deepened her understanding of regional disparities and highlighted the disconnect between federal representatives and their constituents.

Rahimas's conversations with residents across Saskatchewan led her to Parliament Hill, where she worked for the Minister of Indigenous Services. Here she worked closely with Indigenous communities across the country, seeing first hand the gaps that exist in our current system and working tirelessly to close them.

As the Liberal candidate for Regina–Qu’Appelle, Rahima vows to work with all levels of government to bring more opportunities to Regina and build up our community. She is especially committed to fighting for the rights of Indigenous communities that continue to face systemic discrimination across Canada. Above all, Rahima promises open communication, transparency, and a strong, compassionate voice for every constituent she serves. She believes that advocacy should not be a privilege, but a right—every community deserves acknowledgment, action, and representation beyond just election cycles.

Rahima and Mark Carney are ready to build the fastest growing economy in the G7 while investing in housing, healthcare, childcare, and other programs that Canadians care about. Together, we can build Canada Strong.
