Trump, Tariffs, and Trade
A strong Liberal government has and will continue to protect Canadians by championing affordability, protecting the most vulnerable, and defending our sovereignty by:
- Puting together a $2 billion Strategic Response Fund to protect Canadian industries from Donald Trump’s tariffs;
- Making it easier to access employment insurance by suspending rules around separation for a six-month period;
- Removing inter-provincial trade barriers by Canada Day, ensuring a single Canadian economy;
- Inject $5 billion into a new Trade Diversification Corridor Fund, to build the infrastructure that will help diversify our trade partners away from the USA, create good jobs and drive economic growth.
Tackling the Rising Cost of Living
To further tackle affordability and put more money back into your pockets, a Mark Carney-led Liberal government will:
- Immediately cut taxes for middle-class Canadians, saving two income-earning families $825 each year;
- Increasing the Guaranteed Income Supplement by 5%, providing up to $652 more to low-income seniors, tax-free;
- Funding and increasing access to the National Dental and Pharma Care programs created by the Liberal government;
- Officially cancelling the divisive consumer carbon tax, saving Winnipeggers up to 18 cents/litre on the price of gas, while maintaining the industrial carbon tax putting a price on pollution for Canada’s largest emitters.
Increasing the Supply of Affordable Housing
A new Liberal Government understands this and is committed to tackling the housing shortage and affordability by:
- Removing the GST on homes under $1M dollars for first-time home buyers, saving Winnipeggers an average of $50,000 dollars;
- Reinvesting in the Housing Accelerator Fund, further reducing housing bureaucracy, zoning restrictions, and other red tape.
- Creating Build Canada Homes, which will act as a developer to build 500,000 affordable homes a year. And as your next MP, I vow to advocate for the vast majority of these homes to be right here, in Winnipeg Centre.
Protecting Canadian Identity
A Liberal Government will protect Canadian identity through significant investments that will:
- Make access to National Parks and Historic Sites free for this summer;
- Strengthen the CBC/Radio-Canada by fully equipping them to combat disinformation so that Canadians have a news source they know they can trust;
Furthermore, I will advocate for more community centres to support marginalized and religious groups within our ridings to access safe spaces.
Truth and Reconciliation
Ensuring that we continue advancing truth, reconciliation, and Indigenous sovereignty is pivotal to keeping Canada strong. With Winnipeg Centre having the largest urban Indigenous population in Canada, I remain steadfast in my commitment to advocating for the protection and enhancement of Indigenous rights.
As your next Liberal MP, I will unequivocally advocate for:
- Ensuring the Red Dress Alert becomes a permanent federally-funded program, ensuring we speedily and diligently address the MMIWG2S+ crisis;
- Enshrining First Nations’ right to water into law;
- Increasing funding for Indigenous-led equalizing organizations like Jordan’s Principle to ensure First Nation children have the same opportunities as non-Indigenous kids to thrive;
- Investments to northern infrastructure, building on my success advocating for the reconnecting and repatriating railways and ports from Thompson to Churchill.
Standing Up For Peace in the Middle East
Regardless of location, the toll war takes on human lives is tragic and the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, a terrorist organization, must cease. Palestinians and Israelis both have a right to freedom, peace, and security, but never at the expense of the other.
As your next Liberal MP, I will unequivocally advocate for:
- The resumption of uninterrupted humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip;
- Ensuring Canada works with our allies to stand up for international law to promote sustainable peace and security in the Middle East;
- Building a viable path to achieving a two-state solution with Canada recognizing Palestine as a sovereign, independent state;
- The return of all hostages immediately and supporting affected regions to rebuild their communities post-war.

"We will facilitate the conversion of existing structures into affordable housing units by reducing the tax liability for private owners of multi-purpose rental when they sell their building to a non-profit operator, land trust, or non-profit acquisition fund - so long as the proceeds are reinvested in building new purpose-built rental housing." — liberal.ca, retrieved 2025-04-14

Biography
With a focus on Indigenous reconciliation, Rahul began his public service journey interning under Senator Murray Sinclair. This passion for policy and social impact drove him not only to pursue a Master's in Political Management, but additionally serve as a caseworker at a constituency office. Working closely with constituents to navigate government service and advocate on their behalf, Rahul would go on to serve as the Regional Advisor to the Minister of Transport, the Honourable Pablo Rodriguez and the Honourable Anita Anand.
Reason for running
"I am here because I want to see the small and medium businesses in downtown and the Exchange flourish, I am here because we need to address the housing shortage as an act of reconciliation to our Indigenous relatives, I am here because because we need to tackle the rootcauses of crime to stop it, I am here because families and community members have right to free and universal acess to dental and pharmacare. Most importantly, I am here because I want to keep Canada strong by challenging President Trump’s unjustified tariffs!
And there is only one way to do that: by electing a strong voice to sit around the government table. For far too long, our community has not had a voice in government that ensures our community's concerns are heard. Which is why, by giving me the honour to represent you, as a Liberal MP, I will stand up for local issues and be your voice in government."
