Rene McBride is a long-time resident of the Calgary area. Originally born in Vienna, Austria, Rene immigrated to Canada in 1980 at the age of seven. He grew up on an acreage outside of Langdon, Alberta, and earned his Bachelor of Arts in Religion from Rocky Mountain College, specializing in youth ministries and minoring in counselling.

After completing his studies, he worked as a camp director on the West Coast and later as a support liaison for special needs youth and young adults transitioning into the workforce.

Rene currently works in civil construction in Calgary, where he lives with his wife and their nearly grown children.
